Funding

When it comes to in-home aged care services, there are a number of funding streams available, all of which are subject to limitations. The various home care funding streams are listed below, starting from low-intervention care, all the way through to high-level care:

Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

This program provides a range of services including personal care, respite home care, property maintenance, nursing, allied health, delivered meals and planned group activities.

Home Care Packages Program

The Home Care Packages Program is funded by the Australian Government. The program replaces the former community packaged care programs – Community Aged Care Packages (CACPs), Extended Aged Care at Home Packages (EACH), and Extended Aged Care at Home Dementia Packages (EACHD). There are now four levels of Home Care Packages:

  • Home Care Level 1 – to support people with basic care needs
  • Home Care Level 2 – to support people with low-level care needs
  • Home Care Level 3 – to support people with intermediate-level care needs
  • Home Care Level 4 – to support people with high-level care needs

Private companies, Councils and/or not-for-profit organisations administer each of these subsidised funding programs. These are commonly referred to as ‘Home Care Providers’.

From 2017, recipients of Home Care Package funding will have increased choice when it comes to who administers their funding support, and who their home care service providers are. While LiveWell Care promotes greater choice for our clients, we are aware that it also requires more decision making. This will present challenges for some of our clients as they attempt to navigate their way through the vast number of Home Care Providers. LiveWell Care can provide independent advocacy to support you find the right Home Care Provider for you.

Your initial consultation will include an overview of the current aged care system, current available funding packages and updates relating to the reforms of the system.
